WORKSHOP - Women’s Self-Defense Workshop - May 18
Saturday, 1:30pm – 5:30pm
The StrongHER® Initiative and Krav Oz are proud to present our widely acclaimed women-led Women’s self-defense program. This research-based and trauma-informed seminar is endorsed by several area universities, including Georgetown and American University and includes insights from academic researchers, law enforcement officers and mental health professionals that will help you be better able to, not only physically defend yourself, but to better predict and prevent violent encounters through a better understanding of predatory behavior.
This seminar will focus on both the preventative aspects of self-protection as well as the responsive aspects of hands-on self-defense. This two-part seminar begins with a guided conversation that gives insight into an attacker mentality and develops our ability to recognize pre-attack indicators and predatory behaviors. Participants will leave with a insight they can use to evaluate behaviors and feel more confident in their ability to avoid and dissuade unwanted and predatory behavior.
Second, participants will learn the foundations of self-defense from striking and blocking to defenses for common grabs and attacks as they learn how to address the physical aspects of an attacker to be better equipped to physically protect themselves. In addition to learning individual techniques, you will have the chance to employ them in fun, challenging application drills that will have you asking for more! Students will be better able to:
- Predict and prevent violence
- Verbally de-escalate threatening situations
- Combat aggressive behavior
- Use practical self-defense striking and tactics
- Escape holds, grabs, and other scenarios
Be sure to wear comfortable athletic attire to get the most out of this seminar! Learn more about this program at www.Strong-Her.org or www.KravOz.com.
